
Communication Unit model CU901
The CU901 is a unit for governing data acquisition on measuring stations/buoys in the field. It is made for two-way communication via Iridium satellite, GSM and UHF/VHF. The Iridium satellite system has worldwide coverage and the subscription is affordable. Power economy is important for field stations, and the CU901 has several power saving functions, which are programmable via menu. For example: Setting interval and “time-window” for receiving calls for polling of data, and govern ing ON/OFF functions for connected units: sensors, the Tx/Rx satellite terminal and GPS.The power consumption of the CU901 is very low. A replaceable built-in back-up battery will support the real-time clock if external power is interrupted or not connected. The programmed set-up will not be lost, even if the back-up battery is removed/discharged, only the real-time clock have to be reset after change of back-up battery. Each CU901 can be programmed with individual station No., name and password, and when desired set-up is completed, it can be set to standby mode to save power until the unit is ready for operation on the field station. In standby mode the current consumption is approx 40ìA, and the back-up battery has capacity for more than 2 years with pc-cable not connected. The CU901 is delivered with the PC-program SD200W which contains all functions for call, receive, storage of data on file, post prosessing, presentation and distribution of data e.g. on e-mail.
